Julia Grimmett

Enthusiastically imaginative, singer-songwriter and producer Julia Grimmett always makes a point to stand out. Whether it’s through her music, writing, or everyday wardrobe, one thing for sure is that it is never boring!

Inspired by artists such as Owl City, Coldplay, and Echosmith, Julia loves to carefully compose acoustic melody-driven soundscapes interwoven with dreamy synth pads and sparkling keys. Accompanied by witty, yet introspective verses, each song becomes its own adventure - a deep dive into a whole new universe of music.

Coming up in a small town in Ohio, Julia quickly found her sense of self-expression through music. Constantly pushing the creative boundaries at school, she realized that it was hard to grow in such a tight pot with no sunlight. It was during the 2020 pandemic lockdown when she really found her voice, releasing her first singles ‘Better’ and ‘Away’, describing the exact situation she and everyone around her were in - feeling trapped and disheartened. However, it was at that moment Julia was discovered by an executive producer at Adobe, leading to her music video for “Lost in the Sky” being featured in the Adobe MAX creativity conference in 2021.

Julia is a trained pianist who appreciates the more classical works of Haydn as well as Debussy and Gershwin, which she performs in her free time. In the past few years, she has worked to expand her instrumental vocabulary by featuring not only guitar, but ukulele and drums - not to mention her kick-ass keytar! Her main motivation when it comes to writing music is to not only bring people together, but to inspire others to do the same. She says, “Music is the best way to tell a story, and everyone has a song they want to sing. If anything, what I want people to take away from my music is the good energy and determination to be uniquely true to themselves.”

Julia is currently enrolled as a full-time student at Kent State Stark, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Technology. With this degree, she hopes to further her career as a songwriter and producer, and already has begun her studio recording with several songs in the works!
